Rain Chain,Summer Storm

Rain chain, don't go away...

So, I am dying to get some of these rain chains for my house and garden! They vary in size, material and complexity--but all are so pretty! I've read that they sound very musical as well, and can apparently replace gutters entirely. Prices vary from 40 to 100 from what I e found so far-but I bet a crafty person (a welder perhaps?) could make one.

I think you can also use a simple chain.

So cool!

Dresser goes to rehab

I painted Will's sad garage sale dresser and it looks so bright and
cheery now! Of course, I forgot to take before photos--but suffice it
to say it was not in the best of shape. Now it is as good as new since
I fixed one of the drawee that was off-rail and I lined all the
drawers with my one dollar wrapping paper. The parasol is there for
fun for now, though it will end up somewhere else, but is a fun burst
of color for now.

Gratuitous Wrigley Cutie Shot

Small project - curio cabinet!

We finally hung the cute little shelf that I fiund at salvation army MONTHS ago. I wasn't sure I wanted it hung up where we have it in the kitchen since it is such a narrower depth--and I think that worry was founded because it's a little akward from certain angles....but overall I really like having the natural wood up high near the white cabinets and I like that I will be able to put cute stuff up there. I am going to have to look for some more modern things to offset the rugged wood and my figurines.

Wrigley found a friend!

Yay! Wrigley finally found a friend at the dog park! Amos is a 12wk old Chesapeake bay retriever and already weighs more than Wrigley! We met at the park yesterday when it was pouring rain and were so happy to meet again today! yaaaaay! We are planning some future play dates--so please expect the size difference to become glaringly obvious. Fun!

RurrMisurr Vegetable Garden

I am gearing up for our vegetable garden as spring is soon upon us. And I have no idea how to set up my garden! It is about 5ft x 10ft and is a raised bed. We have some uh-mazing compost that we will use for it but that is about all I know so far. Companion plating? Organic planting? To mulch or not to mulch? I have no idea!

Here is my preliminary plan....

Veggies:
Tomatoes, squash, zucchini, cucumber, peppers, lettuce, kale, snap peas, green beans

I also have a separate area for herbs in a container area.
I would like to plant:
Basil, Cilantro, Mint, Rosemary, Chives, Thyme, Dill, Oregano

Then, finally, I thought I would try to plant a few bushes in the back of the yard-- raspberry and blueberry. On an unrelated note, I would also would like to plant a eucalyptus silver dollar bush.

Fine dining for Wrigley

I am sure you will be surprised, dear reader, to know that I could not get him to stand still for this photo.

Dumpster dive, Pt. 2

I finally found the perfect bowls for my Wrigley (he's waited long enough afterall). I paid all of four dollars for the pair.

Score!

The change jug in back is paying homage to Disney's "Up". We'll make it to our Paradise Falls someday! Or at the very least have some spending money for the dude on Tybee Island.

Masterfully repainted master...

You may remember the drab color from my Party on Post, I'm afraid I neglected to get proper "before" photos. But, I am pleased with the after.

Although, now that I review them, they are awfully dark still! I promise it looks much different in person....

Light...bright...airy!

I chose the color "window pane" by Sherwin Williams and it is slightly lighter than the small bedroom. It's such a nice color! Were I to do it again, I might have switched the two colors--smaller room lighter, larger darker. But for now I am pleased to see the mustard and drab yellow GONE.

Rejoice!

Happy valentine's day!

A RurrMisurr winter

So we never ever see anyone at the dog park, here in RurrMisurr, even though we got there three to four times per week!

Until this fine day.... Behold, Wrigley meets his non-kitty nemesis.

Hence the beheading.
Sorry lil snow guy.

Dumpster diving!

Found this to use as a raised feeder for Wrigley by the dumpster near
my apartment in Chicago. Planning to spruce it up a bit... Stay tuned.

Wrigley vs. The Bowie Monster!

I think we all know what the outcome here would be.
